Subject:Big Very Old Porcelain Charger Please Help ID/Date

Hello experts. I just purchased a large lot of old Asian porcelain. I have 3 chargers that I'd love to get info. on such as age and origin. The third one here is 14 5/8" with bats on the front and dozens of old pitted iron spots.

It is Japanese Imari. Probably 19th century.

Iron spots, whether pitted or not, are due to imperfect preparation of body or glaze. The mineral imperfections react to kiln heating and cooling differently from the rest of the material. They might "spit" during the firing cycle, producing the pits.

This appearance was not produced due to ageing of the piece. Look up "levigation" in dictionary or encyclopedia.
