Posted By: Alec Quel Mon, May 16, 2016 IP: 92.72.143.226

Hello,

I'm interested in any Informations about this little
copper Statue which was found in England some years
ago.
This little statue weighs 60 grams and it's measures are
2,75 Inch long and 1,22 Inch wide.
It is made from copper with some residues from gilding.
If someone have some informations about this statue, I'm really interested in.

Best regards,

Alec Quel

Dear Alec,
Your statue is Burmese more precisely from Shan State(a region of Burma). It's difficult to date this buddha, maybe XIXth century or earlier.
Best regards,
Rémy

Adding on to Remy's comments, the broken top part of the buddha could have been the "naga" sheltering buddha in meditation. The piece that I show here has something like a tree branch which could represent the bodhi tree under which buddha was meditating.Your statue looks much older, and is perhaps early 19th century.
