Posted By: mitko Sun, May 22, 2016 IP: 213.114.163.93

Hello!
I have this porcelain figurine and having hard time to find similar. I need help translating the seal mark and date it. It is a man standing on a barrel with black hat, blue dress decorated with flowers and Lingzhi mushrooms. Also I am not sure why there is opening where his hand suppose to be- is it with a purpose or there should be moving hand?
Thanks in advance!
Best regards!
Mitko

Seal - from right to left, top to bottom are:
廣州人民美術社
Guangzhou People's Fine Arts Society

This was translated by Google:

In 1950, based on the South China Art Troupe, established the Southern Arts Service.
In 1951, the Southern Arts Service changed its name to the Guangzhou People's Fine Arts Society.
At that time, Guangzhou People's Fine Arts Society is divided into a number of professional groups, group sculpture is one of them. Sculpture group has its own factory, workshop and later gradually separated out, has now become a Shek Wan art ceramics factory.
In 1956, the group expanded to sculpture sculpture studio.
In 1988, the sculpture studio was renamed Guangzhou Sculpture Academy.
