Subject:Satsuma Plate (Ryozan?)
Posted By: Helena Sat, Jul 30, 2016 IP: 191.176.103.134

I have this plate and I see the Satsuma symbol, but I'm not sure if it is a Ryozan 亮山. Comparing to others and talking to a friend of mine I think it is, can anyone confirm that?

Hi Helena,

The mark is "Ryozan", although the right character is not exact correct. I've never seen this kind of Ryozan mark from right to left. However, the use of this red and gold is typical for Ryozan marks.

To compare, I'va posted 2 other Ryozan marks, of which the one with the Yasuda logo is the most common Ryozan mark.

Regards,
Martin.
