Subject:2 metal sensors
Posted By: Billy Davis Tue, Aug 02, 2016 IP: 100.9.76.230

I have 2 heavy metal sensors, both with different writings. The tall one's lid comes off and also rotates, the small one's lid also comes off. Which one is older and can anyone tell me who made these or what they read ?

Thank You, Billy Davis III

Your cast iron ash trays probably date from the second half of the 20th century Japan. The one with the coin central motif copies a coin from the Kanei period (1624) but is not an indicator of age.

These ashtrays were very popular products of the period, with detail similarities to the cast iron kettle reproductions which were also made at that time, and are still available.

The base inscription says that it was made in the ShiKoYa Hall.
