Subject:Is This Snuff Bottle Jade?

I'm thinking this is jade but not sure. Is so, what kind would it be? Thanks for any help in identifying it.

Did you do a scratch test?

We have a similarly poorly executed snuff bottle that came in lot of more than 20. I was never interested in the material because of the poor workmanship. I expect ours is serpentine.

Thanks for your response, Stan. I was thinking because the chain and decoration are 14K that it might be a decent jade.

Here's another one from a collection I surveyed that appears from the powdery look of its incised decoration and the small chips around its edges probably to be dyed soapstone or one of the softer serpentines. One might speculate that they're from the same factory.
