I picked this up today and wasn't sure if it was Chinese or Japanese. I also am not sure if this was a brass piece that was made into a lamp, or if it was manufactured this way. I can't find anything that looks like it. Has a few repeating characters on the bottom of the robe, but no other markings that I can see. The wiring is very old. There are 3 drill holes: one at the top of the head for the shade, one at the bottom for the switch, and another at the bottom for the cord. This could have easily been an older brass piece that was converted into a lamp in the early 20th century. I cleaned it off with a damp rag just to get a little bit of the surface dirt off, but before doing this it was covered with a thick layer of dust. Any ideas on this piece? Thanks for the help.
