Subject:small Ming era vase
Posted By: richard Tue, Feb 07, 2017 IP: 86.139.223.178

I bought this small vase a while ago and was told by a local auction house "expert" it was most probably a 19th or 20 century vase in the Kangxi style?
How ever on another website I read that the first thing to look out for in a Chinese Ming piece, is the reddish brown edge where the glaze stops short of the unglazed paste at the foot rim. This reddish brown edge is clearly visible. The glaze also has lots of air bubbles in it which is apparently also typical for Ming era porcelain and also extremely hard to copy?
So could this mean this is a genuine Ming era item rather than a later reproduction? Surely the vase has relatively little value even if it was Ming era so why try and put so much effort in making a copy? Pictures of vase and reddish brown edge enclosed. Any replies or suggestions appreciated.
