Japanese Samurai Pressed Metal Plates |
Posted By: Dave Posted Date: Jan 18, 2007 (10:01 AM) |
Message Hi , Could someone please help me with these plates , they are pressed soft metal and I presume were exported from Japan ca1890-1900 ? There are a number of symbols I would imagine have a message , as a wild uneducated guess could these have been produced as wedding gifts , perhaps capturing a traditional historic scene , or simply a fashionable Oriental item for the period within Europe ? Imari type flowers , Samurai Warriors with bow and arrow and swords , the one on horseback has a small dragon's head upon his headress , a pentagram star symbol within a circle , fans , dragons perhaps water dragons ?? , ivy and other climbing flora . Thanks in advance , Dave. Post a Response |
