Subject:Please Help Identify This Porcelain Vase Mark
Posted By: Jeanne Tue, Sep 03, 2013 IP: 75.84.55.131

Hello experts. I have an old porcelain vase, looks Arita with Kutani like colors. It's hand painted with some gilding and decorated with a bird and flowers as well as somewhat translucent. There is a crack but still intact. Underside has a large red mark, can anyone please date and identify this for me? Thank you so much for the help.
Jeanne

This is copied partially from a thread of August 26 in the main forum:

Your tea set is marked "Tashiro Zo" (田代造 - Made by Tashiro). This was the Tashiro Porcelain Company (Tashiro Shoten) in Yokohama, which reportedly was in business from the late Meiji period (1868-1912) through the end of the occupation period in 1954.

Earlier threads concerning Taishiro can be accessed by querying the forum search engine.

Best regards,

Bill H.
