Posted By: John Mon, Jul 01, 2019 Can't help with the mark but I have an identical Japanese vase with the same mark that I bought at an estate auction in 1985. It's 13 3/4 inches tall. An appraiser in San Francisco dated it about 1890. Appraisal back then was $600 but who knows today. |

Posted By: Bill H Tue, Jul 02, 2019 The mark appears to read 義疋 in kanji characters. However, 疋 appears to be a variant of 匹. When combined with either of the latter variants, the two characters appear to have a pronunciation of "Yoshiki", but this is the online "RomanjiDesu" machine translation, and I have no idea if it is relevant in this instance. I couldn't find anyone or anyplace connected with Japanese bronze when checking the name via Google. |
