Subject:Chinese print

In his early days, my father was doing some import/export with China in 1940. So in cleaning the stuf I found a book full of Chinese stamp separate by rice paper. If someone can tell me for any information about the date it was made, and where I can make an evaluation off all those prints . Thanks

Not Chinese. It is a Japanese woodblock print. Kitagawa Utamaro, I think.

The artist is indeed Kitagawa Utamaro I. This print is from a rare series titled ' Seiro Niwaka egao kurabe' (The Niwaka (Festival) of Tea Houses. Smiling Faces Compared).
Published by Yamaguchiya Chusuke, late 1790s.
Another print from this series is in the Staatliche Museum zu Berlin

Hi,this print is not Chinese, but a Japanese, and the signature seems to be that of Kitagawa Utamaro (1753-1806). I think others who know more than me about this will comment too. Mat

Your Japanese woodblock print is by Kitigawa Utamaro. In good condition (and if it is an original as these have been copied many times), it would be worth quite a bit of money.
