Subject:Chinese print
Posted By: Jack Hauben Mon, Oct 27, 2014 IP: 66.130.71.196 In his early days, my father was doing some import/export with China in 1940. So in cleaning the stuf I found a book full of Chinese stamp separate by rice paper. If someone can tell me for any information about the date it was made, and where I can make an evaluation off all those prints . Thanks |

Posted By: Guy Wed, Oct 29, 2014 The artist is indeed Kitagawa Utamaro I. This print is from a rare series titled ' Seiro Niwaka egao kurabe' (The Niwaka (Festival) of Tea Houses. Smiling Faces Compared). |

Posted By: Mat Mon, Oct 27, 2014 Hi,this print is not Chinese, but a Japanese, and the signature seems to be that of Kitagawa Utamaro (1753-1806). I think others who know more than me about this will comment too. Mat |
