Subject:Large Chinese screen pre cultural revolution

I have a large asian screen I inherited that I dont know much about. I was told its pre cultural revolution. Does anyone know more about this screen and if its valuable?

It looks metallic -- gilt? -- and how large [u]is[/u] it? Is it ll one piece?

I've collected a number of similar carved and gilded panels over the years and have the impression that these with architectural details stamped out of metal like yours appears to have are probably no older than around the mid-20th century or somewhat later. I wouldn't be surprised if your screen pre-dates the Cultural Revolution, because a lot of these carvings with metaphysical or other politically incorrect themes for those times were destroyed by the Red Guards. If the provenance of your screen indicates it was around before World War II, I'd appreciate knowing so I can adjust my perceptions of the age of such panels.
