Subject:Wood carving

I found this carving I don't know what is it.... the caftsmanship is outstanding please help

The Chinese would call this a "wood fish" or "fish gong" (muyu - 木魚), called mokugyo (杢魚) in Japan, which is used as a percussion instrument for Buddhist monks as they engage in chanting at their temples. Yours probably was carved to represent a dragon carp, which is a legendary fish that manages to take a heroic leap up and over a waterfall, and in doing so turns into a dragon.

Are you sure that's wood? It looks more like resin to me.

Anyway, it's a bell, and I think Japanese, beyond that I dunno...
